NIR/optical Interferometry

Splinter Meeting of the Annual Meeting of the
Astronomische Gesellschaft (AG)
The many facets of the universe - Revelations by New Instruments
26 September - 1 October, 2005, in Köln

Scope of the meeting:

Over the past few years a number of optical/IR interferometers - also involving large aperture telescopes in the near- to mid-infrared - have become accessible to the astronomical community. The results cover a broad spectrum of planetary, stellar, galactic, and extragalactic astrophysical topics. Further progress is on the way with the upcoming new generation instrumentation for these interferometers.

The splinter meeting will concentrate on recent astrophysical results but will also cover instrumental developments in optical/IR interferometry using the VLTI, KI, LBT and other interferometers.

Organizers:

A. Eckart, University of Cologne
C. Straubmeier, University of Cologne
A. Glindemann, European Southern Observatory
T. Herbst, Max-Planck-Institute for Astronomy
